Praise God for His provision!  LCC provided 300 food bags to students in Southeast Polk and Bondurant School Districts during Spring Break.  As food insecurity continues to be a major issue in eastern Polk County, LCC partnered with the school counselors to identify families in most critical need of food assistance.  There are an extra 10 to 12 meals families must provide during Spring Break.  The food bags are designed to help alleviate this strain on families.  Each family received a large grocery bag full of nutritious food that included meals, snacks, and fresh oranges and apples.  Each bag also included an Easter blessing and a note of encouragement from an LCC child or youth.

The goal was to raise $4200.  LCC went above and beyond and raised $5500!  Not only was LCC able to supply food bags for all the kids identified, they were also able to purchase grocery store gift cards to give to counselors to pass out to families in need.

God’s love and care for those in need is evident throughout the Bible.  LCC considers it a privilege to reveal God’s heart to eastern Polk County and invite everyone to join God’s mission.  For more information on how you can get involved, check out

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.”

– Matthew 25:35

One school counselor responded in gratitude:

I approached one parent as she was waiting outside her child’s classroom. I love all of my families, but I have a very special place in my heart for this mom because she is the only parent—dad is gone. She works more than one job to make ends meet. Her family is her number one priority and she is one of the hardest working people you will meet, yet so very humble. Every time she receives something, she is thankful and gracious.  I set the bag next to her and quietly told her, “This is something that will help you and your family over Spring Break.” We went through a few of the items together and she said, “Oh my goodness. This is going to help us so much. Thank you! Thank you!”
